Peterborough Petes center Adam Levac was ejected from Friday’s game against the Ottawa 67s for slew-footing Kaleb Dietsch.
The two players linked up during a stoppage in play with 9:01 remaining in the third period, with Peterborough trailing 4-1. Both players grappled with their gloves on. The helmetless Levac suddenly escalated the conflict, slew-footing Dietsch and delivering a series of gloved punches to the face.
We may see our first slewfoot suspension of this #OHL season as Adam Levac pulls out one of the most intentional and dirtiest ones you’ll see. They’re paired up well away from the scrum and he slewfoots then starts throwing punches #OHLSuspensions pic.twitter.com/CHunRDgqNY

Refs Ryan Elbers and Alex Joubert issued a match penalty to Levac for slew-footing, under Rule 51:
Slew-footing is the act of a player using his leg or foot to knock, drag, or sweep an opponent’s feet from under him; or pushes the opponent’s upper body backward with an arm or elbow and at the same time with a forward motion of his leg, knocks, drags, or sweeps the opponent’s feet from under him; or flips the opponent backwards over his leg or foot causing him to fall to the ice.
Based on the degree of impact with the ice or boards, a player who slew-foots an opponent will be assessed a double minor penalty.
Should the opponent fall violently and/or dangerously to the ice on his back, shoulders, neck or head area, or fall violently and/or dangerously into the boards, the player shall be assessed a match penalty.
The Ottawa 67s went on to defeat the Peterborough Petes 4-1 in a game that saw the two teams combine for 53 penalty minutes. Officials for the game were referees Ryan Elbers (#9) and Alex Joubert (#31) with linesmen Spencer Knox (#72) and Hunter Gaspar (#67).
