Three of the four officials working tonight’s Game 5 are returning from Game 4 in Edmonton: Chris Rooney, Ryan Daisy, and Ryan Gibbons are all going back-to-back, with Wes McCauley stepping in for Dan O’Rourke.

Referees Chris Rooney and Wes McCauley are paired up for the first time this postseason.

Both have officiated a game in this series; Rooney worked Game 4 (EDM W 4-1), while McCauley handled Game 1 (DAL W 6-3)

Chris Rooney’s only Conference Final action – with was delayed as he recovered from a scary facial injury – came in DAL/EDM Game 4 (EDM W 4-1).

He worked alongside Graham Skilliter in Round 2 at TOR/FLA Game 1, WSH/CAR Game 2, and WPG/DAL Game 3 (DAL W 5-2). He also handled TOR/FLA Game 7 with Jean Hebert.  Rooney previously skated with Jon McIsaac at STL/WPG Game 2, COL/DAL Game 3 (DAL W 2-1), FLA/TBL Game 4, and EDM/LAK Game 6.

Wes McCauley has seen action twice in the Conference Finals – both times alongside referee Francis Charron – at DAL/EDM Game 1 (DAL W 6-3) and FLA/CAR Game 3.

McCauley was paired up with Furman South in Round 1, working MIN/VGK Game 1, EDM/LAK Game 2, and TBL/FLA Game 3, before partnering with Dan O’Rourke for COL/DAL Game 7 (DAL W 4-2).  McCauley also had to step in and work the lines at FLA/TOR Game 2 after an injury to Shandor Alphonso.

He worked Round 2 with TJ Luxmore, skating at CAR/WSH Game 1, TOR/FLA Game 3, VGK/EDM Game 4, and DAL/WPG Game 5 (DAL L 4-0).

Linespersons Ryan Gibbons and Ryan Daisy working consecutive games in this series, returning from DAL/EDM Game 4; they also worked FLA/CAR Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final.  This duo was paired up starting in the second round, where they handled FLA/TOR Game 1, CAR/WSH Game 2, TOR/FLA Game 4, and DAL/WPG Game 5.

Standby Officials: Francis Charron (#6), Scott Cherrey (#50)

Stats have been updated through two rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  Data in blue shows current playoff stats and ranks.

Games: RS (Regular Season) / PO (Playoffs)

Stats/Numbers: ’24-25 avg. (’24-25 rank) | ’25 Playoffs  (’25 Playoff rank)

Number in orange/parentheses indicated referee’s rank among active officials.

* Penalty Differential represents the absolute value of the variance of penalty calls by team per game. If Team A takes two more penalties (or two fewer) than Team B, this is a 2.  Lower numbers indicate less variance between total penalties in a game – that is, a closer number of calls for both teams.
