St. Louis Blues forward Zack Bolduc has been fined $2,248.26 for cross-checking Nashville Predators defenseman Nick Blankenburg.

With 6:28 to play in the third period of Sunday’s game, Blankenburg attempted to deliver a hard, open-ice hit on St. Louis center Robert Thomas.  The Blues forward moved out the way, but the two players’ skates collided, sending Blankenburg crashing to the ice.

Bolduc went after the blueliner, delivering a series of cross-checks while he was down on the ice.

Referees Brian Pochmara and Brandon Blandina issued Bolduc a major penalty and game misconduct for cross-checking on the play.  Blankenburg was given a minor penalty for the trip.

“Much appreciated,” Thomas said of Blankenburg’s retaliation. “It was nice for him to stick up for me and I definitely owe him.”

Bolduc’s fine, which is based on 50% of one day’s salary up to a maximum of $5,000, is the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
