New York Rangers winger Brennan Othmann was working to clear the puck out of the zone when his stick was knocked from his hands. Othmann grabbed the stick – now upside down – and cleared the puck with his knob.

While it looked like Othmann may have been playing ringette out there, it was a perfectly legal hockey play.
There’s nothing in the NHL rulebook that restricts which part of the stick – or which end – may be used to play the puck.
Of course, stickhandling with your knob might be the trickiest option…
