Well, this is an entirely different sort of ‘missed call.’
Ak Bars Kazan forward Nikita Dynyak’s phone ended up on the ice, falling out of his equipment as he pursued a player from Avangard Omsk.
Referee Viktor Birin (#22) collected the mobile device and returned it to the Ak Bars bench.

Avangard head coach Guy Boucher argued for an illegal equipment penalty on the play, but none was assessed.
“My phone — I put my phone right here [on the shelf behind me]. I took off my elbow pads, I turned around, and it fell in [my pants],” said Dynyak, via translation. “I didn’t even feel it. [It was] like putting a cigarette behind your ear and you forget about it after a while. It came out and I didn’t realize what was going on at first.”
“This is a very funny situation – maybe a little embarassing. It will be a new meme. A fine from the league? I don’t know, I hope the league will take pity on me. It was an accident; I didn’t do it on purpose.”
The Kontinental Hockey League has since advised that no disciplinary action will be taken against Dynyak for the incident.
Avangard Omsk went on to defeat Ak Bars Kazan 3-1. Officials for the game were referees Nikolai Akuzovsky (#18) and Viktor Birin (#22) with linesmen Dmitry Golovlyov (#99) and Artyom Savenkov (#89).
