In the Conference Finals, Sutherland and Furlatt worked EDM/DAL Game 1 (EDM W 3-2 2OT) and NYR/FLA Game 3.

During Game 1 of Oilers vs. Stars, Sutherland and Furlatt called the Oilers for four penalties, including a double-minor to Connor McDavid in overtime. The only infraction whistled against the home team was a minor for too many men on the ice. The Oilers went on to win that one 3-2 in double-overtime.

Refs Kelly Sutherland and Eric Furlatt have worked together since the end of the opening round. Tonight marks their seventh game together this postseason.

They were first paired up for BOS/TOR Game 7 in the opening round, then moved on to Round 2 to work CAR/NYR Game 2, EDM/VAN Game 2 (EDM W 4-3 OT), DAL/COL Game 4 (DAL W 5-1), and FLA/BOS Game 6.

Sutherland was paired up with Pierre Lambert most of the opening round, working WSH/NYR Game 1, CAR/NYI Game 3, BOS/TOR Game 4,  and COL/WPG Game 5.

Furlatt refereed alongside Trevor Hanson at COL/WPG Game 1, NSH/VAN Game 2, CAR/NYI Game 4, and TBL/FLA Game 5.

Number in orange/parentheses indicated referee’s rank among active officials.

* Penalty Differential represents the absolute value of the variance of penalty calls by team per game. If Team A takes two more penalties (or two fewer) than Team B, this is a 2.  Lower numbers indicate less variance between total penalties in a game – that is, a closer number of calls for both teams.
