The NHL’s Department of Player Safety has issued $2,000 fines to Minnesota Wild forward Mats Zuccarello and Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron for an altercation from Thursday’s game.
The two teams came together in front of the Minnesota Wild with just over seven minutes remaining in the second period.
McCarron was trying to get at Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov when Zucarello reached out from the bench to grab a hold of him. The Nashville forward obejcted to the unexpected contact and punched Zuccarello in the head.
Zuccarello was given a minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. McCarron picked up a minor for roughing.
Both have subsequently been issued $2.000 fines by the NHL.
The Nashville Predators went on to defeat the Minnesota Wild 6-1. Referees for the game were Kelly Sutherland (#11) and Furman South (#13); linesmen were Andrew Smith (#51) and Travis Gawryletz (#67).
