The SPHL’s Knoxville Ice Bears will be inducting former Knoxville Cherokee – and current NHL referee – Wes McCauley into their Pillar of Champions on Thursday night.
McCauley will be on hand to drop the puck as the Ice Bears host the Huntsville Havoc on February 29. The veteran NHL ref will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
He played one season with the ECHL’s Knoxville Cherokees, scoring two goals and 28 assists – along with 130 penalty minutes – in 56 games.
McCauley is the fourth inductee into the Ice Bears’ Pillar of Champions, joining center Mike Murray and defensemen Mark Van Vliet and Don Belle.
