Detroit Red Wings defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere picked up an extra minor penalty for demonstrating a dive on the way to the box.
Gostisbehere was whistled for interference on Flyers forward Cam Atkinson. The defenseman appears to pick Atkinson as he’s pursuing Detroit’s J.T. Compher. As Gostisbehere was being escorted off the ice by linesman Cam Atkinson, the frustrated blueliner decided to clearly demonstrate his opinion that Atkinson dived on the play.
Referee Garrett Rank was not amused. The official his Gostisbehere with another minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Red Wings defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 7-6 in overtime. Referees were Garrett Rank (#7) and Jean Hebert (#15); linesmen were Caleb Apperson (#77) and Tommy Hughes (#65).
