Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook may miss the remainder of the opening round playoff series against the St. Louis Blues. He’ll sit for the next three games for his illegal hit on Blues forward David Backes.
Seabrook was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct. The Blues scored the game-tying goal on the resulting man advantage, then went on to win in overtime. Backes did not return.
The Blues currently lead the series 2-0. Seabrook has been a big contributor as far as keeping the Hawks in it. He has a goal and an assist in each of Chicago’s playoff games. From the NHL:
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook has been suspended for three games for interference and charging against St. Louis Blues forward David Backes during Game 2 of the teams’ First Round Stanley Cup Playoffs series in St. Louis on Saturday, April 19, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 15:09 of the third period.
Seabrook was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for charging.
