Boston’s Milan Lucic took a nasty cheap shot on Detroit’s Danny DeKeyser, but he won’t miss any time for it. The NHL’s Department of Player Safety has laid down the law with a whopping $5,000 fine for the unpenalized incident.
With Boston trailing 1-0, the gritty Bruins winger took out his frustrations on the Wings blueliner. Specifically, by targeting a sensitive area below his belt. Cross your legs and cringe.

There was no penalty on the play. Referees for the game were Francis Charron (#6) and Paul Devorski (#10).
From the NHL:
The incident occurred at 19:55 of the second period. No penalty was assessed on the play. The fine money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
Lucic makes $6M per year. This $5,000 fine – half the maximum amount permitted under the CBA – is a drop in the bucket for a guy who earned $73k per regular season game.
