Canadiens’ Emelin Fined $11k for Head Shot on Gionta

Montreal’s Emelin, please report to the principal’s office.  The Montreal Canadiens defenseman will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety – and former Montreal Canadiens defenseman – Stephane Quintal on Saturday. Emelin faces supplemental discipline after a head shot on Buffalo Sabres forward Brian Gionta. The Habs’ blueliner was given a two-minute minor for an illegal check to the head on the play, which happened late in the third period. Referees were Ghislain Hebert and Brian Pochmara. Stars’ Garbutt Suspended Two Games for Kneeing Oilers’ Hall

Dallas Stars forward Ryan Garbutt has been suspended two games by the NHL for kneeing Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall.  The hit happened at 12:17 of the third period of Tuesday night’s game. Garbutt was given a two-minute minor for tripping on the play.  Referees for the game were Brad Watson and Dean Morton.
