KHL Situation Room: Dynamo vs. Metallurg

While the NHL’s Situation Room is still enjoying the offseason, the KHL’s is back in business.  It didn’t take long — the officials went upstairs to review the first goal scored in the season opener between Dynamo Moscow and Mike Keenan’s Metallurg Magnitogorsk.   Dynamo blueliner Filip Novak’s marker was initially called as a good goal by referee Konstantin Olenin.  Additional review confirmed that the pass by Alexei Tereschenko deflected off Magnitogorsk goaltender Vasily Koshechin’s stick, then off Novak’s skate and into the net.   Since  Novak was in the act of stopping and did not use a kicking motion, the...
