It’s all about relativity.
One man’s washout call for a good puck is another man’s WWE-style clothesline.
That’s precisely what happened early in tonight’s game between the Ottawa Senators and St. Louis Blues. Linesman Shane Heyer went to extend his arms as Sens defenseman Erik Karlsson entered the zone. Thanks to a mix of proper positioning and inconvenient timing, Karlsson’s zone entry was stopped abruptly by Heyer’s elbow.
Watch the left side of the screen.
Fortunately for Ottawa, the Blues weren’t able to capitalize on the opportunity with Karlsson well out of the play.
Not-so-fortunately for Ottawa, their captain suffered a minor injury on the play.
It looks like Karlsson has a bloody nose from that inadvertent elbow from Linesman Shane Heyer. Tough start.

Karlsson received some minor repairs on the bench. He didn’t miss a shift. Neither did Heyer.
