QMJHL Suspends Baie-Comeau’s Desbiens & Sherbrooke’s Roy

One ugly play last weekend has resulted in two suspensions for the players involved.  The incident happened in last Saturday’s game between the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Sherbrooke Phoenix. Early in the second period of the game, Drakkar forward Simon Desbiens hit Sherbrooke defenseman Jeremy Roy into the boards from behind.  Desbiens had plenty of time to change course but opted to hit him right through the numbers. Senators’ Cowen Suspended 3 Games for Hit on Jokinen

After an in-person hearing on Monday, Ottawa Senators defenseman Jared Cowen has been suspended three games for his high, late hit on Florida Panthers forward Jussi Jokinen. The hit came 4:38 into the second period of Saturday’s game between the Panthers and Senators. Jokinen was caught admiring his pass to linemate Jimmy Hayes when Cowen delivered a late body check. The hit was made worse by the height difference between the two.
