Blue Jackets’ Foligno Injured After Collision with Linesman Shane Heyer

There was a scary moment in Sunday’s game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Los Angeles Kings. Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno was injured after a collision with linesman Shane Heyer. Foligno was hit along the benches by Kings’ center Jeff Carter.  Their momentum carried them into linesman Shane Heyer, who was on the dasher, trying to avoid the play. Foligno’s head drove into Heyer’s hip and elbow, and the winger fell to the ice. Caps’ Ovechkin Runs Over Referee Kelly Sutherland

Just 20 seconds into the Washington Capitals’ Saturday night game against the Calgary Flames, Alex Ovechkin was already setting the tone with a solid bodycheck. The problem? It was on referee Kelly Sutherland, who got caught in the Caps’ offensive zone cycle. Ovechkin, to his (dis)credit, didn’t appear to hold up on the hit. He completed his check with a nice follow-through with his right shoulder. Sutherland took the hit and got right back up, not missing any time.
