Situation Room Awards Blues Goal After Review

The NHL’s Situation Room has had a busy Saturday night.  With a handful of goal reviews around the league, their phone’s been ringing off the hook. In St. Louis, the Situation Room had the best angle on the play, confirming a Blues goal that was unable to spot at ice level. Referee Jean Hebert blew the whistle to stop play, having lost sight of the puck as St. Louis forwards Max Lapierre and Ryan Reaves drove to the net. Referee Chris Rooney Injures Hand at Bruins/Leafs

Referee Chris Rooney appeared to suffer a hand injury that saw him leave the ice late in the second period of Bruins vs. Maple Leafs.  He was hit by a puck cleared around the glass deep in the Boston zone. Rooney dropped to the ice immediately. He got back on his skates and headed to the Bruins’ bench with the puck still in play. Rooney was tended to on the bench by the Bruins trainer before heading to the locker room, leaving referee Brian Pochmara to finish the period as the lone referee on the ice.
