Go Home, Ref – You’re Drunk

From the fine folks over at Reddit (r/hockey) comes a referee who’s putting the ‘beer’ in beer league. Watch this inebriated zebra piroutte his way into your heart. See him twist and twirl like Marc-Andre Fleury during a stoppage in play. Oh, just grab a pint and watch: The “waving-off-icing-no-wait-I’m-an-airplane” at the 14-second mark? Genius. (stick-tap to OP –...

Referee Kimmerly Honored for 1000 Games

Greg Kimmerly reached an officiating milestone this past week, having refereed 1,000 games in the NHL. Red Wings Announcer Disagrees with Call, Offers Suggestion

Sometimes your team is hit with a bad call. As a fan, it’s easy to lose your mind over it. As an announcer, perhaps you need to show a bit of restraint. Mickey Redmond didn’t hold back on this one. Red Wings announcer Mickey Redmond vehemently disagreed with the soft slashing call against David Legwand: In case you’re video-challenged, Redmond’s thoughts on the penalty: “We might as well put skirts on them all and put tennis rackets in their hands. This is a joke. Absolute joke.” The breakdown of the play, from Winging It in Motown: The Wings end...
