No Discipline for Kings’ Muzzin For Hit on Blues’ Sobotka

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin will not face supplementary discipline for his hit on St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Sobotka, the NHL confirmed on Friday. Here’s the hit, which happened late in the Kings’ 4-1 victory on Thursday night. It looked like Muzzin came in high and led with his shoulder and elbow. He also clearly left his feet on the hit. ECHL Ref Dons Helmet Cam for Two Games

There’s nothing like seeing a professional hockey game from a referee’s point of view.   We saw it in the AHL and the NA3HL.  Now, the ECHL gives us back-to-back ref-cam games. On January 3 and 4, ECHL referee Ryan Murphy strapped a camera to his helmet to give us a ref’s-eye-view of two games. The first was between the Elmira Jackals and the Wheeling Nailers: The next night, Murphy worked the game between the Reading Royals and Cincinnati Cyclones. It’s a great perspective on the game.
