Things can get pretty heated on the ice. Usually, it’s between players. Occasionally, it happens with officials, too.
Nashville Predators forward James Neal has a history of diving that includes being the first player fined under the NHL’s new embellishment guidelines. He’s already been penalized for diving earlier this season.
In Monday night’s game between the Predators and the Boston Bruins, Neal was immediately called out on a dive — by the official — and it was caught on mic.
Neal was sent to the box for embellishment.
Here’s another look at the play, where Neal appears to have been clipped by the stick of Bruins goaltender Jonas Gustavsson. How much it caught him – and how much he sold the call – are a little tougher to determine.
