McCauley and Sutherland are working together for the first time all season. This duo did not work a regular season game together, nor any in the playoffs.  It’s not unusual for the NHL to change up the pairings for Games 6 and 7 of a series, especially in the Conference Finals or Stanley Cup Final.

Referee Wes McCauley is working his eighth straight Cup Final. This is Kelly Sutherland’s seventh trip to the Final.

This is Wes McCauley’s fifth partner of the postseason. He worked with Frederick L’Ecuyer in Round 1 and Eric Furlatt in Round 2, as well as one game each with Kevin Pollock and Kyle Rehman. McCauley and referee Francis Charron were paired up beginning with Game 7 between the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders, staying together through the Conference Finals.
