After dropping their opening match of the 2016 World Juniors to Team USA, Canada was looking for a strong start to Monday’s game against Denmark.
They did just that, with what was nearly the opening goal of the game in the first minute of play. Lawson Crouse’s shot danced across the goal line before Denmark’s Alexander True cleared it out of the crease.
The officials made no call on the ice. Referee Daniel Konc signaled that he’d be calling upstairs for review.
After review, it was determined that the puck never crossed the line. No goal, Canada.
Denmark would later open the scoring, taking a 1-0 lead on a shot by Alexander True — the same player who initially kept the Canadians off the board.
