Sometimes you’re just in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Despite his best efforts to avoid the play, linesman Ryan Galloway was hit with the puck in Tuesday night’s game between the San Jose Sharks and the Minnesota Wild.

Early in the third period, Sharks defenseman Justin Braun’s breakout pass deflected off Matt Nieto’s stick and right into the side of Galloway’s head.

The Winnipeg native stayed down on the ice before being helped off by the Minnesota medical staff.  He did not return to the game.

Linesman Mike Cvik worked the remainder of the game as the lone linesman, with referees Dan O’Rourke and Brian Pochmara rounding out the three-man crew. The trio called just one more penalty in the game after Galloway left the ice.

Here’s wishing Galloway a speedy recovery.
