Sutherland and Hanson were paired up in the second round, taking the ice for FLA/TOR Game 1, EDM/VGK Game 2, and DAL/SEA Game 4. 

Sutherland previously worked Round 1 alongside referee Kendrick Nicholson, handling WPG/VGK Game 1, SEA/COL Game 2, NJD/NYR Game 3 (NJD W 2-1 OT), NYI/CAR Game 5 (CAR L 2-3), and DAL/MIN Game 6. 

Hanson, paired with ref Eric Furlatt, officiated LAK/EDM Game 1, TBL/TOR Game 2, VGK/WPG Game 3, COL/SEA Game 4, and BOS/FLA Game 6.

During the opening round, Hanson/Furlatt were near the top of penalty calls, while Sutherland/Nicholson ranked near the bottom.

Murchison and Alphonso joined forces in the Conference Semifinals, skating at SEA/DAL Game 1, and EDM/VGK Game 2. Murch worked the opening round with Libor Suchanek, while Alphonso was partnered up with Bevan Mills – who also moved on to the Conference Semifinals, where he’s skating alongside linesman David Brisebois.

Refs Wes McCauley and Dan O’Rourke are working together for the third time this postseason, having handled NJD/CAR Game 1 and TOR/FLA Game 3.

McCauley started the playoffs alongside Frederick L’Ecuyer for TBL/TOR Game 1, NYR/NJD Game 2, CAR/NYI Game 4, FLA/BOS Game 5, and EDM/LAK Game 6.  McCauley also covered NYR/NJD Game 7 with Gord Dwyer.

O’Rourke was previously paired with ref T.J. Luxmore; the duo worked MIN/DAL Game 1 (DAL L 2-3 2OT), CAR/NYI Game 3, BOS/FLA Game 4, SEA/COL Game 5 (SEA W 3-2), and TOR/TBL Game 6. 

This is the most experienced ref pairing of the round, with McCauley (194) and O’Rourke (179) trailing only Kelly Sutherland (224) in playoff games worked among active referees.

Similarly, Murray (169) and Cherrey (137) are also ranked second and third amound active linesmen; only Brad Kovachik – who made his playoff debut in 2001 – has more (192).
