Referees Steve Kozari and Chris Lee worked together in Round 1, taking the ice for SEA/COL Game 1, WPG/VGK Game 2, EDM/LAK Game 4, MIN/DAL Game 5, CAR/NYI Game 6 (CAR W 2-1 OT – Series Win), and FLA/BOS Game 7.
This duo ranks in the lower half of official pairings in penalties per game and power plays per game, shifting the focus away from special teams a bit. While neither team is particularly dangerous with the man advantage, the Canes’ top-ranked postseason penalty kill (92.5%) may have less of an impact.
Linesmen Steve Barton and Bryan Pancich are back for their second straight game in this series. Barton and Pancich were paired up together for the first time in Conference Semi-Finals, taking the ice at FLA/TOR Game 1 and NJD/CAR Game 2. In the opening round, Barton was paired on the lines with James Tobias for LAK/EDM Game 1, SEA/COL Game 2, VGK/WPG Games 3 and 4, and CAR/NYI Game 6. Pancich skated Round 1 with Andrew Smith, manning the lines for LAK/EDM Game 2, DAL/MIN Game 3, NJD/NYR Game 4, FLA/BOS Game 5, and TOR/TBL Game 6.
