This quartet of Sutherland, Dwyer, Kovachik, and Berg officiated Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche, an 8-6 Avs win that saw only 3 called penalties, plus one for an unsuccessful challenge.

Sutherland and Dwyer are paired up for the third time in these playoffs, having also combined forces for NYR/PIT Game 7 (NYR W 6-2).

The Rangers are 1-2 under Sutherland and 2-0 under Dwyer; Tampa has gone 1-0 under Sutherland and 1-0 under Dwyer.

Kelly Sutherland officiated Round 2 with Jon McIsaac, refereeing TBL/FLA Game 1, NYR/CAR Game 2 (NYR L 0-2), and STL/COL Game 4.  He skated with Jake Brenk in Round 1, working STL/MIN Game 1, LAK/EDM Game 2, COL/NSH Game 3, NYR/PIT Game 4 (NYR L 2-7), and TOR/TBL Game 6 (TBL W 4-3).

Gord Dwyer worked most of the postseason along referee Francois St. Laurent. In Round 1, the duo handled TBL/TOR Game 2 (TBL W 5-3), CAR/BOS Game 3, MIN/STL Game 4, LAK/EDM Game 5, and FLA/WSH Game 6.   Round 2 saw them take the ice for STL/COL Game 2, CGY/EDM Game 3, and CAR/NYR Game 6 (NYR W 5-2).

Also of note, referee Gord Dwyer is not former NHL player Gordie Dwyer who played 78 games with the Lightning and 17 with the Rangers from 1999-2003.

Linesmen Brad Kovachik and Devin Berg have been paired up since the second round, working EDM/CGY Game 1 and 2, CAR/NYR Game 4 (NYR W 4-1), and EDM/COL Game 1 in the Conference Finals.

Kovachik worked Round 1 with Ryan Gibbons at WSH/FLA Game 1, PIT/NYR Game 2 (NYR W 5-2), COL/NSH Game 3, BOS/CAR Game 5, and TOR/TBL Game 6 (TBL W 4-3).  Kovachik returned for TOR/TBL Game 7 (TBL W 2-1) with linesman Scott Cherrey.

Berg was partnered with Trent Knorr in the opening round for LAK/EDM Game 1, DAL/CGY Game 2, and NYR/PIT Game 3 (NYR L 4-7).  He switched to working alongside Steve Barton for FLA/WSH Game 6 and PIT/NYR Game 7 (NYR W 6-2).
