Linesman Shandor Alphonso took a skate to the hand during Sunday’s game between the Dallas Stars and Ottawa Senators.
Alphonso jumped on the boards at the Senators bench to avoid the play just as Ottawa’s Justin Kelly jumped on to the ice. Kelly’s skate caught Alphonso’s left hand.
The linesman headed off for repairs with 3:07 to go in the third period, requiring four stitches to help close the wound.
The remainder of the game was handled by three officials – referees Tom Chmielewski and Ghislain Hebert with lone linesman Travis Toomey.
Good news for Alphonso as it appears he’s good to go Monday. The linesman has traveled to Toronto and is scheduled to work the lines for Leafs vs. Rangers.
