St. Louis Blues forward Ivan Barbashev will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety on Friday for a high hit on Boston Bruins forward Marcus Johansson.
The hit came 5:24 into the first period of Thursday night’s Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Johansson fired a shot on goal before getting caught up high by Barbashev’s shoulder. Johansson was sun around by the hit. He remained down on the ice momentarily but completed his shift and remained in the game.
No penalty was called on the play by referee Steve Kozari, who was well-positioned in the near corner, or Kelly Sutherland up high.
