Rooney and Dwyer refereed Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final between the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes.  The duo worked together starting in the second round, handling DAL/STL Game 1 (STL W 3-2), COL/SJS Game 2, and BOS/CBJ Game 4.  Rooney was also paired up with Marc Joannette for DAL/STL Game 7 (STL W 2-1 2OT).

Rooney worked with referee Kyle Rehman in the opening round, covering VGK/SJS Game 1 (SJS W 5-2), WPG/STL Game 2 (STL W 4-3), BOS/TOR Game 3, COL/CGY Game 5, and WSH/CAR Game 6.  Dwyer was previously aligned with Francis Charron for CBJ/TBL Game 1, WPG/STL Game 3 (WPG W 6-3), NYI/PIT Game 4, VGK/SJS Game 5 (SJS W 5-2), and BOS/TOR Game 6.
