The IIHF has set the officiating teams for today’s Medal Round games, with USA vs. Canada for the gold and Sweden vs. Russia for the bronze.
Bronze Medal Game
Sweden vs. Russia – 3:30PM EST
- Referees: Darcy Burchell #8 (Canada), Jozef Kubus #28 (Slovakia)
- Linesmen: Sakari Suominen #66 (Finland), Nathan Vanoosten #55 (Canada)
Burchell has seen Russia twice, officiating yesterday’s shootout loss to the US and their earlier victory against Latvia. He’s worked one game for Sweden, their 8-3 win over Slovakia. Kubus refereed Sweden’s round-robin win over Finland; this is his first game with Team Russia. Kubus was in the wrong place at the wrong time earlier this tournament when a puck caromed off his body, leading to a Slovakia goal against Canada.
Linesmen Suominen and Vanoosten were paired up for Russia’s 3-2 loss to Team USA in the round-robin tournament. Vanoosten also manned the lines for the Russians’ win over Slovakia.
