Referee Wes McCauley is one of the best in the business. That doesn’t mean that he’s not always looking for ways to improve.
One of the areas McCauley’s stepped up his game? The in-arena announcements.
McCauley’s most recent noteworthy call came from Sunday’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders. Isles forward Brock Nelson fired a shot from close range, then kept whacking away at the puck under goaltender Jhonas Enroth’s pads. McCauley blew the whistle, then called upstairs to confirm that the puck stayed out.
We’ll let Wes take it from there…
Wes McCauley at it again. Nobody, NOBODY makes a vid review call better.

McCauley had his first hit single back in March, when he had some good news for the fans in San Jose.
Let’s hope McCauley keeps it up, and that other officials follow suit. It never hurts to bring a little personality to the game, even if it’s from the men in stripes.
