Sometimes you can get out of the way. Other times, you need to stand your ground.
KHL linesman Dmitry Shishlo found himself forced to do the latter during a recent game between Sibir and CSKA. Shishlo, peculiarly positioned inside the blueline just a few feet off the boards, was in the wrong place at the wrong time as Sibir’s Evgeny Artyukhin tried to split the D. Artyukhin successfully stepped around one backchecking player but ran right into the immovable Shishlo.
Not only did Shishlo firmly drop Artyukin to the ice, breaking up the rush, but he also followed up the hit with an impressive death stare.
