At a junior game in Quebec, one player learned just how seriously they take abuse of officials.

Olivier Marcotte, a player with Sherbrooke’s Junior AA Hockey-Experts, found himself face down on the ice in handcuffs after spitting in a linesman’s face

With less than five minutes remaining, Marcotte was ejected from the game.  He argued with the official before spitting in the linesman’s face and attempting to attack him.

Marcotte was restrained by the officials before being taken off the ice in handcuffs. He was released from police custody soon after, once “everyone had calmed down,” according to a police spokesperson.

No charges have been filed by the linesman, according to Le Journal de Montreal.

Marcott had no comment on the incident, saying only that there is another side to the story.

Sherbrooke lost the game 9-3, ending their season. Marcotte’s Junior AA career has also come to a close, as this was his final year of junior eligibility.

What a way to go out, eh?
