Calgary has been a dangerous place for officials lately.

Last week, linesman Don Henderson was steamrolled by defenseman Dennis Wideman. Last night, referee Mike Leggo took a puck to the face.

With less than two minutes to play in the first, Calgary Flames defenseman Deryk Engelland’s clearing attempt caught Leggo up high.  Linesman Lonnie Cameron immediately blew the whistle to stop play.

Leggo stayed on his feet, but was helped off the ice.

Referee Jon McIsaac finished the period working solo with linesmen Lonnie Cameron and Mark Wheler on the bluelines.

The trio were soon reunited with their injured partner.  Leggo was back out on the ice for the start of the second period.
