HC Lugano defenseman Lorenz Kienzle does not appreciate divers.

During the Spengler Cup Championship game between Lugano and Team Canada, Kienzle was whistled for hooking Canada’s Chris DiDomenico.  On his was to the box, he shared – in very colorful language (NSFW) – his thoughts on the play. 

Referees Greg Kimmerly, currently working in the NHL, and Marcus Vinnerborg, formerly of the NHL, agreed with Kienzle’s assessment, though not in so many words.  They hit DiDomenico with a minor for embellishment, sending him the box where he was berated by Kienzle.

Kienzle was fined 500 Swiss Francs – approximately 500 US dollars or 700 Canadian dollars – for threats made during his outburst. 

Canada went on to win the game 4-3.
