Linesman Don Henderson came to work today expecting to call some icings and offsides, drop the puck for some faceoffs, and maybe break up a fight or two.
He did not expect to be picking up pieces of the arena jumbotron at center ice. On Friday night, that’s precisely what the veteran linesman did.
When Columbus Blue Jackets center Alex Wennberg’s clearing attempt hit the Verizon Center scoreboard, a piece of the display came crashing down to the ice. Henderson was there for the recovery:
