Chicago Blackhawks winger Andrew Shaw avoided the watchful eye of the Department of Player Safety when he left his feet to deliver a high hit on Barret Jackman of the St. Louis Blues.
He wasn’t so lucky when he left his feet to draw a penalty against Kings forward Mike Richards. After further review, he’s been hit with a fine.
Shaw has been fined $2,000 for diving at 5:24 of the first period of the Chicago Blackhawks’ game against the Los Angeles Kings on March 30. His embellishment led to a delayed penalty call on Mike Richards by referee Paul Devorski. The Blackhawks scored a goal seven seconds later with goaltender Scott Darling pulled for an extra attacker on the delayed call.
Shaw was given an initial warning after a diving incident against the Tampa Bay Lightning on November 11. He was not called for diving in that game; the embellishment was identified after review by NHL Hockey Operations.
