It’s a tough job being an NHL linesman. You watch bluelines, whistle icings, and drop the puck for faceoffs.
Oh, and you also get to be the one who breaks up fights.
As of this season, linesmen are even more in the line of fire. NHL rule changes call for fights to be broken up when one of the combatants loses his helmet. That’s exactly what happened in this donnybrook between the Stars’ Antoine Roussel and Chicago’s Andrew Shaw.
Watch as linesman Andy McElman (#90) takes some solid shots to the visor from both players before executing a clean takedown on Shaw.
