The Gatineau Olympiques have named their video goal judges’ room in honour of Marc Maisonneuve, the longtime Quebec official who died suddenly earlier this year at the age of 50.
The room at the Centre Slush Puppie, home of the Olympiques, is now the Salle Marc-Maisonneuve, with a commemorative plaque unveiled in a ceremony attended by family, friends, and colleagues from across Quebec’s officiating community.
Hockey Quebec recently shared the dedication of the room on social media.
“La salle des juges vidéo des Olympiques de Gatineau porte maintenant le nom de Marc Maisonneuve,” read the announcement. “Une belle façon de garder sa mémoire bien présente, lui qui a été juge vidéo dans la LHJMQ de 2008 à 2026.”
(“The Gatineau Olympiques’ video judges’ room now bears the name of Marc Maisonneuve. A beautiful way to keep his memory alive. He was a video goal judge in the LHJMQ from 2008 to 2026.”)
The plaque honours the full arc of Maisonneuve’s career in officiating:
- QMJHL – Video Goal Judge, 2008–2026
- Hockey Québec – Officiating Manager, 2015–2026
- Hockey Outaouais – Official & Officiating Manager, 1995–2015
- Recipient of Hockey Canada’s Officiating Award – 2026
Maisonneuve spent 11 years with Hockey Québec, first as officiating coordinator and later as Director of Officiating and Player Safety, dedicating more than 20 years to developing officials across the province. His sudden passing in February left what Hockey Québec called “an immense void within our organization and throughout the Québec hockey community.”
“I knew Marc for over 20 years. He wasn’t just a colleague, but a personal friend,” said Yanick Gagné, Executive Director of the Quebec U18 AAA Hockey League, at the time. “He was a man dedicated to the advancement of officiating in Quebec.”
