Minnesota Wild winger Brandon Duhaime was ejected from Sunday’s game against Dallas for boarding Stars defenseman Thomas Harley.
Late in the second period, Duhaime hit Harley right in the numbers, driving him into the boards. Harley’s head contacted the dasher, cutting him across the face.
Referee Chris Schlenker issued a major penalty on the play; the call was confirmed via video review.
Harley did not return to the game.
The Stars, leading 5-3 at the time of the hit, scored twice on the extended power play – both goals coming from Jason Robertson.
No word on if the NHL’s Department of Player Safety may come calling with some supplemental discipline. Duhaime has nor previously been fined nor suspended by the league. He did receive a major penalty for cross-checking Colorado Avalanche defenseman Bowen Byram back in October 2021.
The Stars went on to defeat the Wild 8-3. Referees for the game were Chris Schlenker (#3) and Francois St. Laurent (#8) with Kyle Flemington (#55) and Ryan Gibbons (#58) on lines.
