Referee Francis Charron left Sunday’s game between the Boston Bruins and the Anaheim Ducks with an apparent injury.

Charron was hit in the midsection by a Bruins shot during the second period, but remained in the game.

Though Charron left the ice without incident for the second intermission, he did not return for the start of the third period. The remainder of the game was officiated by a three-man crew of referee Jake Brenk (#26) with linesmen Travis Toomey (#90) and James Tobias (#61).

While the Bruins and Ducks combined for nine penalties in the first forty minutes, only one penalty – a slashing call on Anaheim’s Trevor Zegras – was issued in the final stanza by the lone ref.

There’s no word on Charron’s condition, or if he’s expected to miss a substantial amount of time.

Charron’s possible injury puts him on the sidelines with two other officials battling apparent injuries. Linesman Bryan Pancich and referee Justin St. Pierre have yet to work a game this season.
