The NHL’s Department of Player Safety handed out a pair of fines for separate incidents from Monday’s game between the Dallas Stars and Vancouver Canucks.
Stars defenseman Colin Miller was fined $5,000.00 for elbowing Vancouver’s Nils Aman at 2:24 of the third period.
Canucks blueliner Christian Wolanin was fined $2,027.03 for a slash on Dallas forward Ty Dellandrea. Wolanin’s infraction came at 8:19 of the third period. The Vancouver defenseman chopped at the Stars winger, knocking him to the ice at the top of the Vancouver crease. Dellandrea remained down on the ice in apparent discomfort before heading to the bench.
Neither violation resulted in a penalty call during the game from referees Francis Charron and Pierre Lambert.
Both fines are the maximum permitted under the CBA without a formal hearing, based on each player’s annual salary.
The Canucks went on to defeat the Stars 5-4 in overtime. Referees were Francis Charron (#6) and Pierre Lambert (#37); linesmen were Mark Shewcyk (#92) and Dan Kelly (#98).
