The SHL has suspended forward Lias Andersson for five games for an illegal check to the head.
Andersson, whose NHL rights are held by the New York Rangers, is currently skating with HV71 in Sweden.

Andersson’s hit on Luleå’s Jonas Berglund came with 9:32 remaining in the second period. Berglund cleared the puck out of the defensive zone moments before Andersson move in from the side. The HV71 forward stepped into Berglund, driving his shoulder into his opponent and making contact with the player’s head.
Berglund left the ice and did not return to the game.
No penalty was called on the play.
• The hit is late and Berglund has relaxed and is in a vulnerable situation when the hit is handed out.
• The hit, which takes place from the side, is careless and disrespectful.
• Very high risk of injury.
Suspension from 2 October 2020 to 17 October 2020. The suspension is estimated to correspond to five matches.
Andersson will be eligible to return on October 17 against Djurgården.
