You’ve got to do whatever it takes to get your message across.

Referee Wes McCauley blew his whistle to stop play after Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick covered the puck during Tuesday night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The players, though, kept battling for the puck, whacking away at Quick and pushing and shoving in front of the net.

So he blew it again.  And again.

And again.

After the sixth time, McCauley tried a different approach, yelling “WHISTLE!”

Things settled down and the two teams separated. Hey – whatever works, right?
