KHL linesman Sergei Shelyanin is the first linesman in Russian history to work 1,000 games.

 


Shelyanin, 43, made his professional debut 26 years ago in 1993. He began officiating at age 14, getting his start working local youth tournaments. Shelyanin has spent 11 years in the KHL, working 479 regular season games and 140 in the playoffs. Internationally, Shelyanin went on to work the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City along with multiple IIHF World Championships (2011, 2012, 2013).
