The American Hockey League has suspended San Jose Barracuda defenseman Nicholas DeSimone two games for an illegal check to the head.

The hit, on Tucson Roadrunners blueliner Cam Dineen, came 5:46 into the second period of the Barracuda’s Friday night game in Tuscon, with San Jose trailing 2-0.

DeSimone was given a match penalty for the hit and ejected from the game by referees Michael Markovic and Brett Roeland.

Tucson scored on the ensuing power play to go up by three goals, en route to a 5-0 win.

DeSimone will be eligible to return to the Barracuda lineup on Friday, November 23, when they visit the Colorado Eagles.
