Referee Steve Kozari was mic’d up for Game 2 between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals.
“I’m not penalizing you,” Kozari warned the Blue Jackets’ Boone Jenner. “I’m letting you know that [stuff] starts stuff and then we have a scrum that leads to an altercation, you’re gonna get two [minutes].”
He also explains penalty calls to Caps bench boss Barry Trotz, and discusses the injury to linesman Steve Barton.
“We might just go to the third period here,” Kozari says to fellow ref Brian Pochmara, indicating that the officials were considering ending play and sending the teams to the locker room, with the time remaining in the second period tacked on to the start of the third. “Is he that bad?”
“Kneecap’s out,” replies Pochmara.
