Serving beer in projectiles seems like a bad idea. Plastic cups don’t fly well, especially when empty. Beer cans, on the other hand…

During a senior league game in Forestville, Quebec, a flying beer can sparked an off-ice melee.  Three players left the ice – shirtless – to attack the fan who tossed the offending beverage. They were joined by another player who was not dressed for the game.

All four have been suspended indefinitely by Mathieu Caron, president of the hockey league.

From Le Journal de Quebec, who properly described the event as a ‘scene out of Slap Shot’:

“The players who play in our league have all signed a contract with league compliance clauses. When they participate in gatherings like we saw this Friday, they tarnish the reputation of the league, and [show] a great lack of respect, “said Mr. Caron.

The players weren’t the only ones to lose their assignments.  The head coach of one of the teams resigned, along with his assistant.
