Referee Dan O’Halloran had an adventurous outing as the Devils visited the Capitals on Thursday night.

Perhaps inspired by referee Wes McCauley, O’Halloran added some demonstrative flair to a fighting call.  With New Jersey’s Joseph Blandisi and Washington’s Dmitry Orlov going off for fighting, the veteran referee announced the call. Rather than flashing his mic skills, O’Halloran’s exhibition was a bit more physical.

Later in the game, O’Halloran looked to move behind the net, only to run into Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby.

Once he was back on his feet – with the high stick call made – O’Halloran had a good laugh about the whole thing.

Great to see the zebras finding some humor out there!
