“Hey ref, are you blind?!”
It’s the oldest taunt in the book. In some cases, it’s partially accurate.
Midway through the third period of Wednesday’s game between Tampa and the Carolina Hurricanes, Lightning forward Tyler Johnson’s game-tying goal was challenged for being offside. During the review, one fan decided to do something about the officials’ visual acuity: offer up a pair of glasses.
Neither linesman Steve Barton nor Michel Cormier took the fan up on the offer. They did, though, confirm that the play was onside.
